"The big painting of almond blossom is really just an expresión of the beauty of the almond groves in blossom on the island in February each year.
I never cease to be amazed and inspired by the sight of all that pink/white blossom In the big orchards when heading to Palma from Valldemossa. It’s the sign that Spring has arrived on the island.
I worked on small colour sketches initially and then began work on a series of oil paintings on canvas. The big one 170cm x 170cm is the big final visual statement.
Working in the almond orchards the scent is gentle and fragrant and it only adds to the experience of painting. I even saw hares doing their Spring mating dances amongst the trees. The bright yellow flowers carpeting the ground only serves to enhance the whole colour experience."
